There is nothing wrong about criticising an authoritarian government. In fact, thats an obligation! But, we often forget that governments do not represent the people and, as a result, we tend to dehumanise them! A State of Mind and Departure did a great job in humanising North Koreans. Departure was heavily criticised because they did not point out the authoritarian nature of the government. Departure is a very apolitical show! They didnt have any political agendas, they just wanted to meet people from around the world and immerse themselves in the local cultures. A State of Mind is a bit more political but it still humanises the North Korean people! Because of that, both shows are accused as North Korea propagandas.
