There is optimism for successful sustainable forest management in Tropical forests mainly pushed worldwide by the desire to limit carbon emissions. The case of Costa Rica is a real success story in forest conservation with huge reduction in deforestation and forest land use conversion to other uses while effectively reforesting and afforesting wide areas that were previously destroyed. Trees now cover more than half of biodiversity-rich Costa Rica. Brazil has slowed down forest loss in the Amazon significantly contributing to limit the emissions leading to global warming. Indonesia is also making big progress in forest conservation. The strategy is simple and has always been there for everyone to implement; save the remaining forests and establish new forests.
