There is purpose through the process. The process you are going through is developing you for the next phase, and next season in your life. We humans can be so fickle at times. We pray and ask God to please do this and that, and sometimes even beg Jesus to open doors, and to give us favor, and to use us. We tell God that it is our dream, and passion and that we want it to happen so bad so to please make a way! But when we start experiencing difficulties, pain, betrayals, and suffering, we then are begging God to step in and stop it because we hate going through the process. Are we confused with what we want or do we just not want to go through the process because it requires too much of us and it takes way too much time to go through it? Do we just want to wave a magic wand and then everything that we have been praying for is right there sitting right in our laps, and then we will know that we have arrived? . We want the diamonds but we don’t want to go to the process to get them. We just want them handed to us on a silver platter. There is a new attitude in America that used to not be here. Many want free hand-outs, and expect to just get everything handed to them on a silver platter without having to work for it, or are not willing to sacrifice their lifestyle for it. They just think it’s owed to them. It’s a new mentality that has come into this country. If we are not careful, we can have this same attitude with God. We just expect Him to give us anything we want without sacrifice, tests, suffering, or trials. If you look through the bible, most everyone paid some sort of price, and sacrificed or was tested before they got their diamonds in life. •Abraham was tested as to whether or not he was willing to give up his only son •Job lost everything, but even through his pain and suffering, he held on and didn’t give up on God •Joseph was sold into slavery into a foreign country, then lied on and then went to prison for something that he didn’t even do. But after he went through the process, he then was promoted to a big position in Egypt •David was anointed as a boy but he went through hell before he actually wore the crown Kenneth Kendler, Director of the Virginia Institute for Psychiatric and Behavioral Genetics at VSU, said, rather than people “Being what they eat”; it is more suitable to describe them as “being what they experience.” The process you are currently in might take a while, so don’t get in a hurry. We all have goals, and dreams that we want to see come to pass. Sometimes we think it is easier to throw in the towel when it’s not happening in the timeframe that we think it should be happening in. Isaiah 40:31 “But the people who trust the Lord will become strong again.” I challenge you to trust God and to continue the course regardless of the obstacles that come your way because they are going to come whether you want them to or not. Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), (recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live]” The furnace of trials may be the very thing that will shape you into that piece of clay that He is trying to mold you into so that He can then use you to your full potential. He can use your experiences to help others, and inspire those who are at a low place in their life to know that they too can get through the “furnace of trials” that that they are in. I have gone through many difficult seasons in my own life. I remember there being times that I was doing everything in my power to not stay at the bottom for too long. My head was barely above the surface, and at times I felt like I was drowning. But I survived it. Don’t give up on the process! You are never alone in the furnace. The refiner’s eyes are on you, watching you as you mold into the person He wants you to become. The three Hebrew boys went into the furnace that was meant to kill them, but they were not alone, and they did survive the heat. God was with them through their “furnace of trials.” That experience shook the entire nation, including the king, and still today many are telling the story about the three Hebrew boys, and they even have make movies that included this story. It’s an experience that can never be reasoned away but it is an experience that has given millions of people hope to trust in something that is bigger than them, Jesus! Embracing each experience is not always an easy thing to do, especially the bad and negative ones. But every moment is helping to shape you into the person that God wants you to become. Helen Keller said, “Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experiences of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired and success achieved.” There is purpose in the process that you are in! Your experiences are not in vain…Don’t try to go around it, or terminate it but go straight through it, and see what will happen. God is molding every one of us, and we are all on different potter wheels in this life. Don’t compare yourself to someone who you think has arrived; focus on the HANDS that are molding you. “Experience: That most brutal of teachers. But you learn, my God do you learn.” C.S. Lewis
