There is some kind of change going on and I am just way too much at peace with myself to worry overmuch about it. I finally got rid of a car that had non-decorated my driveway for too many years, turned that section of the driveway into a patio under giant spreading crepe myrtles and as I read and reread a pretty large library, fluffy red blossoms of the myrtles now and then float down and decorate the space. I spent most of one day washing and sorting every clay pot I own, spent most of another sorting the nails and screws, and I guess if there is a word for it, contentment, peace of mind, and harmony of the soul would be in there somewhere. I made a totally scrumptious eggplant, garlic, tomato, onion, chicken stock something or other topping for pasta for supper and ate it at my patio table and sipped a beautiful red wine and watched the sun go down. In what seemed a minor miracle, the tiniest little hummingbird helicoptered in for a sip at the feeder and then blew his cover and landed on a low branch and watched me sip the last of the wine. The outdoor fireplace has been cleaned and new fire laid and waiting for the first nip in the air. My greatest wish is that a smidgeon of this peace of the heart will seek you out and lull you back to rest.
