There is something about a mom sacrificing her own life to save her kids that makes sense to us. Jesus recognized how noble it is for someone to give their life for those they love (John 15:13). What doesn’t make sense to us is that someone would die for his or her enemy. That is what makes God’s love so astounding. Jesus died for those who were opposed to Him in their sin. Our sin is personal to God because it is really against Him. So when Jesus chose to die for us—that was really personal too. He knew everything about you when He chose to die for you. We are left marveling at this kind of love. The cross is proof that no one is beyond the love of God to save.
