There is something to be said about the superboss at work, Arvind - TopicsExpress

There is something to be said about the superboss at work, Arvind Kejriwal. Theres a reason why he ends up being first amongst equals. Not because of his ancestry, wealth or power. Theres none of that in the extremely horizontal organization that is, the Aam Aadmi Party. He is the face or the supremo because he commands the respect due to his work and his respect for others. On 2 separate occasions that I can remember, hes taken an idea from me and allowed to change his opinion and the outcome that followed. From a lowly volunteer like myself. Whos just been here for 4 months. So, dictatorship, my arse. While I agonize over every possibly negative comment or critique on Facebook threads and possibly let it bog me down, this man works tirelessly day in and day out across New Delhi even as he is abused for his cough, his protests and apparently ill-founded accusations which end up being backed by solid evidence and ratified by the Supreme Court. You know, because, corruption, rape, murder, threatening electoral officials and government servants with bodily harm are something that weve gotten used to. Thats something 21% of our Parliament is accused of. Serious criminal cases, as ADR calls them. An honest crusader who troubles status quo and asks for your participation in governance and your role in accountability in his high pitched Hindi appeals irks us a lot more. Oh, and the cough too. While I look forward to my days off or well, hours off from work to go home to that French film I love or the sleep that I miss, his mind will constantly keep ticking, and suddenly on a Saturday night at 3 am hell call up to ask questions about state taxes on diesel and petrol and what needs to be done to correct it in Delhi and to fix a meeting with IOCL/BPCL and petrol/diesel traders as soon as possible. I pity his family. I guess the only thing that explains it are stories like this one. Read it. You might get an idea of what hes made of and where hes coming from. Youll then realize that hes going to give the establishment hell for a long time to come. Maybe till it completely changes. Read and let your heart wrench when he says, Dr Parikh, we are not alone in this room. Heres to the crazy ones.
