There is this central mosque close to where I work that is situated along my route home. I was passing in front of it on Friday when I discovered a security post was in place. Worshippers were frisked before gaining entrance. As each person took his turn to be scanned by a hand- held metal detector, I wondered the effectiveness of the procedure. Can it detect a vest bomb? aint we supposed to have a national data base by now. What about power to operate security cameras. Our method of combating terror has been to wait at the delivery point for a mistake to pounce on. We are short of operations that would swarm deadly attack while the terrorists are yet to perfect the plan. I then started thinking what it would take to hit the mosque if indeed it was primed for target. Vehicles were allowed parking space very close to their fence. A bomb could just be waiting for the end of the Jumat service! What if the place was infiltrated a day before and the perpetrator just needed to hang around with a remote! We need structures that will place us ahead of this game!
