There is this spot in Rome, that we often return to, its ambiance, romance, people, food and drink, draw us back like swallows in the spring... Piazza Navona, and the Cafe Viva Dolche, where we sip espresso, water, eat sweet cakes and salads and watch the parade of people pass by. The oval shaped Piazza has three fountains stretching along its length, one by Michelangelo, and two by Bernini. Along the enclosed Oval are an array of Baroque buildings, some apartments, some business, a church, and one is the Argentina Embassy. This area was once a Roman Empire Circus, where chariot races were held, now its one of the most beautiful and lively spots in Rome.... Sunlight brings out the larger crowds, and they are a blast to watch, as each one displays a different aspect of personality. Ah but a rainy day and its slow and more serine, old warm charm permeates the cafes, and art displays, that surround you and beckon as you pass through. Italian food served out doors under umbrellas, the scent of espresso permeates the area and its served in a real cup..Waiters make jokes, people nod hello, and the laughter and smiles rarely cease. Love blooms on every bend and weddings are often held there..Miss that place..But I will return again and again if I can........... Viva Roma, viva Piazza Navona...
