There is trouble in paradise looming, with Hawaii bracing for the worst storms in 22 years. Thankfully the earthquake this morning didnt seem to do much damage there. We hear the blood bank is going to have to shut down taking in donations for maybe three days. Are we ready to help if needed? Not really. Our O+ shelves are dangerously low just for our own needs, and our A-, B-, and O- stock would need to be higher to offer support. We really need all platelet donors to come in for their appointments this week if we are to make goal, and perhaps share, too. More appointments are always needed to take in 30 a day, so call 616-2505 if we can save a chair for you. If we can get supplies up enough to help Hawaii, we need to be ready to ship in a very narrow window of opportunity when a plane can get in. So what are you doing tonight? Both donor centers are open until 7. Friday hours are 9-6, and Saturday hours are 8-2. We always want to help our neighbors, as they have helped us.
