There need not be any apology for the indelicate language in this - TopicsExpress

There need not be any apology for the indelicate language in this chapter (even with children in the room) because that is how offensive and bad sin actually is and the lesson must not be lost, fixed up, or softened to be made more palatable. I decked thee also with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon thy hands, and a chain on thy neck. And I put a jewel on thy forehead, and earrings in thine ears, and a beautiful crown upon thine head. Thus wast thou decked with gold and silver; and thy raiment was of fine linen, and silk, and broidered work; thou didst eat fine flour, and honey, and oil: and thou wast exceeding beautiful, and thou didst prosper into a kingdom. Verses 11-14. What looks like an endorsement for wearing jewelry (it definitely is not) is really a contrast between the former wretched condition and the latter wretched condition. In the former theres physical poverty; the latter, spiritual poverty. Which is worse? The answer is obvious, but God has bigger plans than either of these non-ideal choices.
