There seems to be something terribly wrong with the Quality of Army Officers. Maybe this is due to poor intake (due to lowering of standards during selection at SSB) or due to Training Inadequacies at NDA, IMA, OTA etc which results in Officers not developing adequate OLQ (Officer Like Qualities). Such incidents of beating up soldiers in the Army are being reported repeatedly in the last few years. What is the need to physically assault your own soldiers? Officers can always take disciplinary action if soldiers commit an offence or behave in a way detrimental to good order and discipline. It is clear that these officers lack leadership qualities and are unable to command their men - so have to resort to physical violence. The Commanding Officer and Officers involved in beating up the Jawan need to be sacked immediately (pending disciplinary action) since they have lost the respect of their own soldiers.
