There should be no choice when faced with who to feel compassion - TopicsExpress

There should be no choice when faced with who to feel compassion for. Tragedy is tragedy. Of course Im sickened by the police deaths. They were honourable men just doing their jobs. BUT Their characters wont be assassinated in the media. Their entire high school history dragged through public opinion to be judged. Nobody is going to track their movements for the last five years and focus if they ever did anything that CAUSED them to deserve to be executed on a street corner. They will be honoured - martyrs for justice. Their killer, already dead, is portrayed as mentally ill, violent, crazy man - which to do what he did likely goes without saying. Its a TRAGEDY but they wont be vilified in death. Their parents wont have to provide an accounting or justification for letting their sons go to work. Rarely will it be said that they should have expected to be shot to death for choosing that line of work. You know - exercise better judgement than what they did. Who would DARE say that ?? Nobody. Why? BecauSe of the horror of their deaths. And rightly so. NOBODY deserves to be shot to death, or murdered in the name of justice, except in the most extreme of circumstances. And thats the point of us that do challenge the media portrayal of young black people murdered or arrested or detained or beaten by those that are charged with protecting them. Justice for ALL. Compassion for ALL.
