There was a grown man cutting his nails on the bus...not only was it noisy and disconcerting, but one of his wonderful, blackish yellowish dried up uneven nails flew over on my lap. I tried extremely hard not to vomit or lose it. My immediate impulse told me to screech and tell him how absolutely disgusting that was. Everyone by me on the bus was glaring at me waiting for a reaction. I counted to ten slowly in my head. Then conveniently, I had an empty 5 gum pack in my bag. I gave it to him, along with his nail and told him to please keep his nails to himself with a smile. I know it sounds cliche, but simple moments like this are a great way of practicing controlling your anger. The more you practice, the more it becomes a habit, and your reflexes in times of trouble wont be as negative, or as hard to control. As Muslims we should set the best example in terms of behaviour.
