There was a knock on the door at stupid o’ clock this morning and Food Slave answered it to find Gladys in a state of distress. According to her, Dave has gone missing and she was beside herself with worry. Now I happen to know that Dave has discovered a close neighbour who is in possession of an air conditioning unit so he has taken to spending the days in cool comfort at their house. Gladys would have been none the wiser if the neighbours hadn’t gone out for the evening without checking for a stray Superior Cat. This meant that Dave was locked in until they returned in the early hours. Of course Dave was settled by then and after they’d given him a late supper of tinned salmon, as an apology for his impromptu incarceration, he decided that he might as well stay the night. So it transpired that just as Gladys was working herself up into a frenzy about the loss of her beloved cat, Dave sauntered by on his way home for breakfast. To be honest my Food Slave could take a lesson or two from Gladys about how to show enthusiasm for her lord and master’s return. As for Dave, well he showed complete indifference and I must stay that he has taken to this Food Slave ownership business like a duck to water. Then again, he had a very good teacher.
