There was a mixed bag for Rockview at the weekend, with the senoirs losing 2-1 and the youth team winning 3-1. Rockview seniors can count themselves very unlucky to lose 2-1 to grasshoppers on Saturday. They dominated the game from start to finish but it was just one of those games were nothng went right. Grasshoppers took the lead after a mix up in the rockview defence in the 20th min. However a piece of brillance by Eoin McGuiness brought the sides level in the second half. With the game going into the last 10mins a massive error by the referee changed the game. Rockview had the ball in the grasshoppers net only for the ref who was 30 yards behind play to rule the goal out for offside to the disbelief of most people at the game including the hoppers keeper. This was the second goal that had been ruled out for offside for rockview. From the resulting free grasshoppers went up the pitch and scored the winner to make it 2-1. Credit to grasshoppers for taking their chances and winning 2-1, but rockview can take heart from their performance, and the this young team will only get better as the season goes on. The U18s had a great win away to moneyslane, in a game which they needed to win in order to advance to the knock out stages of the cup. They did so but made life difficult for themselves. Rockview took the lead in the 15th minute from a 25yrd drive from Michael Dickson, a rare collectors item. Rockview increased the lead before half time with his first goal for the club from their new centre half and man of the match Jack Scapattici. Rockview sat back in the second half and were punished for this when Moneyslane made it 2-1, however rockview made the game safe and booked their passage to the next round when Niall McCann made it 3-1 with 10min remaining.
