There was a one mile run today at my school. Students had to write an essay and then run a mile (different days)...I was a little disheartened to see many, actually most of the students stopping to walk before they were even two-thirds of the way through the race. Come on, you can run a mile without stopping! So later in the day, I played them this clip in class. I said, listen. This music is calling out to you. Its telling you that you can reach down inside yourself and find something precious, something powerful. Then you can reach up above yourself and reach something you havent ever touched before. Here, at the coda! Listen! Let the music take you there. It will be your guide...I love the movie Rocky. I love that he didnt even win the fight. But he won something even more important than a title or a belt. He won self respect and self confidence.
