There was a time when our nation as a whole treated the veterans of the Vietnam war with such disregard and awfulness. They never received the thanks of a great full nation as our generation did, sure we had our share of douchebags but not like them. An entire country turned their backs on them and those who didnt spit in their faces. They answered the call, when others refused by draft dodging. And when they returned, they were expected to blend in and go to work or just disappear. We will never be able to change the past, but we can change the present. When you see a veteran, young or old. Look them in the eye, shake their hand, give them a hug (it will mean a whole lot more) and dont just tell them thank you for your service, tell them why you are thankful. Talk from your heart and encourage your children to do the same. We owe these men and women so much, especially those who came before us. Love our veterans as if they were your own blood, because they spilt theirs for you.
