There was a young man who got so angry at his father, he declared, “That man, I don’t want to have anything to do with him!” But he can’t remove his father from himself, there’s no way; he’s a continuation of his father. My mother is myself; that’s the truth. My father is also myself. I don’t have a completely different self from my mother, my father. It is the Buddha who reminds us of this. So every time you have difficulty with your fathers and your mothers, think again. Look deeply and try to solve the problem in the light of the Buddha’s teaching. “No sameness, no otherness” is a very deep teaching of the Buddha. - Thich Nhat Hanh
