There was an ad for a television show called Jane the Virgin...the storyline being a teenage Latina goes for a regular pap smear and accidentally gets artificially inseminated by her doctor. So its all about this young girl finding herself dealing with an unplanned pregnancy,how her life changes,her understanding mother is there for her telling her how being a mother is the greatest gift one could have,how she comes to accept that sacrificing other ideas about her future in order to now give birth and become a teen mother is a blessing and no big deal.. WTF! What kind of message is that,thats an insult to Latinas as far as im concerned..sending the message that the pinnacle of their success in life would be getting pregnant as fast as they can,a mothers role is to support the daughter quickly devoting her life to caring for a child and thats the best path their lives could take..am i wrong in thinking the message behind this show is insulting? Television. ..ughh
