There was another suspected Rabid animal reported last week in Eastpoint. This time it was a raccoon behaving abnormally. There was no direct contact so the state lab declined to test the raccoon but presumed it to be positive based on the behavior. It is important to make sure all of your pets, dogs and cats are current on their Rabies vaccinations. If you see any animal behaving abnormally, avoid any contact with it, keep your pets away and call Animal Control or the Health department. Wild animals that commonly carry Rabies are bats, raccoons, foxes, skunks and bobcats.
