There was no J in the Greek alphabet. Jesus name began with Ie: (Ee-eh). When you say it quickly you hear the y sound. Jesus name in Greek was Iesous . . . (Ee-eh-soos). When the KJV translation was first made in 1611, the Old English spelling of Jesus was: Iesus . . . (Ee-eh-soos). When the J was added to the English alphabet, it did not sound like it does today (like the G in German). When the J was first added, it made the Y sound. (In many languages, it still does.) When the J was added to the English alphabet (and meant to sound like a y), the spelling was changed to Jesus--but still pronounced: Ee-eh-soos. If you are concerned about accuracy, you can say: Yesus. But after hearing us say it as we do, for a couple of hundred years, I dont think it really bothers Him. After all, His name is pronounce many different ways, depending on local dialects, throughout the world. He is not a Hebrew only God. It pleased Him to save the Gentiles. It pleases Him to hear us call upon His name, in the languages that HE gave to us.
