There was no room in the inns of Bethlehem for the mother heavy with child, yet the animals in a stable welcomed her and in their gentle way, comforted the woman as she gave birth to her baby, our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. They allowed a strange man to gather their hay to make the child a bed, and with their warm breath and body heat they kept the babe and his weary mother warm. If these lowly animals can so unselfishly give what little they had to help a new born babe, how can we as humans do any less for them?
