There was once an old man riding a train, and a young man watched what he did. The old man would whisper something to himself for a minute or two, then break out laughing. All of a sudden, he would lift up his hand and stop. Then he would start whispering and repeat the whole pattern again. The young man got scared, but he watched the old man for the whole trip. At the end of the trip, the young man asked the old man why he did this. "Well, whenever I take a long trip, I tell myself jokes to pass the time. Then, I laugh. Then I stop and tell myself that I already knew that one."
