There was this moment in the Luis clinic where he dropped his head into his hands..he told the student that she had been using all her aids repeatedly & excessively, showing no clarity of expectations to the mare, showing no praise for the mares efforts, & then only complaining how the mare felt like she was just going to stop all the time! I felt emotional, teary, seeing how this affected him & knowing this is what people do to their horses. He would say later that he almost stopped the lesson feeling unable to get thru to this rider. Instead he began to explain that this mare is suffering..he even said the phrase..you are killing her..but he was kind..almost pleading in his approach..please..he says, ...& he began again to remove her aids, simplify, allow the mare to do what she clearly could do. He after apologizes for being hard on her..but I thanked him personally for not being the average trainer catering to the clientele..I thanked him for giving that precious, enduring mare a chance at a dignified life with that owner
