There were a TON of requests for instructions on how to create this gorgeous hot air balloon, so here they are thanks to our Design Team Semifinalist Mallika Kejriwal! Enjoy creating your own hot sunflower project! Step by step instructions: 1. Using your favorite hot air balloon template from Google, print out one out that’s approx 10 x 7 inches. Cut the shape out and trace it onto 16 sheets of paper from the beautiful Classic Sunflower Paper Collection. 2. After tracing, use your scissors and cut out the hot air balloons silhouette. Then fold the first 12 cutouts into half and keep them in groups of 3, for a total of 4 groups. 3. Trace the template shape again on 2 chipboards and cut them out. Take the last four sheets of your silhouettes and paste them on the chipboard to make the base of the balloon sturdy. Then chop one of the finished chipboard silhouettes into half and add them to the other chipboard silhouette to make them look like a plus sign from the top. Adhere it with your glue gun. After the glue has dried, you’ve made a very strong base for your 3D hot air balloon. Next, take your 4 groups of 3 cutouts and add them to each quadrant. 4. After adding your cutouts, take a 6x6 sheet from the Classic sunflower paper collection and make a small basket— for people to stand in ;) . Take your Crop-A-Dile to attach jump rings to the hot air balloon. 5. Next, let’s make some gorgeous sunflowers with the Classic Sunflower Precut Stamp Set and coordinating diecut. Distress each layer first, then wet them using water. After they’re moist, squeeze each petal into a circular shape with your two fingers. Then take your heat tool to make them dry and sturdy. Get the complete Sunflower stack by simply adding together different layers and different sizes. 6. To finish this project, add micro beads to the flower centers. Take the Classic Leaf precut stamp set and coordinating diecut and cutout some beautiful leaves. Grab your embossing stylus and emboss the leaves by going in circular motions on the backs of them. Distress the leaves to get that natural torn look. Add these leaves to the beautiful yellow sunflowers and put them onto your hot, 3D Balloon. Final steps! Add some lace and ribbon to the firespitter and futher embellish it using some fluttering Classic Sunflower butterflies.
