There were gods in the ancient world who were not friendly to the said fallen gods. Or maybe the fallen ones had enemies who were not fallen. In all honesty, the ancient world was a botched mix of deities, demons, and supernatural entities. Humans were taking sides, as all these had a side, so to speak. Everyone taking sides, and no solution to the problem of the warring spirituality. No supreme deity to the rescue. Until Marduk hit Babylon. The only deity I know of to be depicted in such a fashion. In fact, his angels were different. Babylon depicted this deity with a crown, decorated robes with wheels, and a sea serpent with goats horns, and a loop of some sort in his hands. This god waged a war against the other gods, and brought that entire age to an end, and I personally believe this happened several thousand years before history says Babylon arose. Before Greece and Rome. This wasnt a god of thunder, or lightening, and neither was he the Sun. That age ended with the rise of monotheism, and the idolatry of hand made gods, and self made legends. Marduk from what Ive gathered about him, was not a blessing to the gods, but a curse. Marduk had so many attributes, he was basically the god of magic, wisdom, and had EN.KIs traditional attributes, while replacing EN.LIL as the supreme Mesopotamian deity. At least under Babylons dominion he was in charge. He eventually vanishes in a trail of fallen cities, and broken idols. I dont believe demons are associated with the serpent as claimed either. They were most often servants, and the guardians of places the gods were to busy to guard themselves. Most often they were punishing agents. So the riding of the sea serpent isnt necessarily a Satanic depiction. It could be EN.KI, or TI.A.MAT. Ancient gods of creation. What if the universe itself, or the creator generated Marduk on purpose to punish the gods, who treated humans like court jesters in many legends. We were more or less subservient beings for a while. Until the Flood event, and then the collapse of the Mesopotamian culture center. I think that the universe judges you according to the way it sees fit.
