There were three movies in my life that my mother, sister, and I watched probably over a hundred times: About Last Night, Dirty Dancing, and Mermaids. Mermaids WAS my sister, my mom and I. Charlottes religion swapping Charlotte, were Jewish. Kates cuteness. Chers rebelliousness. And I think I wanted Bob Hoskins character in that movie to be my dad, like for reals. Then Bob Hoskins went on to star in another movie that we can probably recite every line to - Hook. Anyway, another star from my childhood is gone and it makes me sad.
