There were too many mistakes in this movie related to interstellar - TopicsExpress

There were too many mistakes in this movie related to interstellar travel, but Im going to have to complain about the most obvious blunder. I think Kip Thorne has failed badly if he was a consultant for Interstellar. The movie was full of *basic* astrophysics mistakes that even I noticed (as someone without a physics degree). Those black hole planets are impossible for the start. This guy is being too kind to Kip Thorne. Rotating or not, those are extreme conditions and no such planet can exist. **** You cant have a habitable planetary system around a SMB. ***** The proposed system is a neutron star / super massive black hole pair. Aside from the question of how such a system would have planets, assuming stable orbits are possible, I fail to see how they would be formed, or how they could be habitable. That system would be awash in gamma / x-rays, I dont think anyone can survive there. Also, I dont think you can have stable orbits either (being that close to the SMB such that there is 60.000 times time dilation), again assuming tidal forces are minor (which I dont believe can be the case). The interstellar travel and exoplanet science was also completely made up, again, lots of impossible things happening in that movie..... The time dilation plot was completely BS because of the improbability of a black hole system, I dont see why the author is trying to save face of Kip Thorne just because he is famous. I am not even mentioning how implausible a) Falling into a black hole and surviving b) Making a wormhole with an exit that exists before the time of construction c) Manipulating space-time at that level of precision d) Traveling to another GALAXY with a wormhole are. Of course, it also doesnt make sense to send any humans when you have smart AIs like that. I am troubled by the bad science in this movie, because Dr. Thorne is apparently writing a book to accompany the movie, which defends the science in the movie. Its just a lousy promotion campaign. The movie isnt scientifically accurate at all, and pays no heed to actual interstellar travel research. Its just nonsense. The only thing that might be accurate could be the visualization of a rotating black hole with no accretion disk (which is of course quite impossible here, why no accretion disk???????).
