There will always be perverts that will stalk our children, or - TopicsExpress

There will always be perverts that will stalk our children, or worse. Its our job to protect them and educate them to the dangers of strangers. I told this story before and I will tell it again. 100 times if it saves on child from harm: In early 1964, maybe March or April, I arrested a man for exposing himself to children. I remember it was a Friday afternoon. I was working the 3:00 to 11:00 PM shift. My first stop was usually Cooper Place to say hello to my little friends. As usual the kids were waiting at the curb to greet me. Today was different. As I pulled to the curb, the kids were all trying to talk to me at the same time. Bob, Bob, guess what?, guess what?? One at a time kids. What happened? They told me about a car parked on the corner of Cooper Place and Fountain Street as they walked home from school shortly after 3:00 PM. The man with curly black hair called them over to his car. Sitting in the driver’s seat he exposed himself to the children. They then all ran home. Did you tell your parents kids, I asked? No because we wanted to tell you first Bob. Kids. What did the car look like? One little girl said, just like my daddys car, only it was white. Where is daddys car now? Its in the back parking lot. I got out of my police car and followed the children to the back lot. Daddys car was a 1959 Chrysler, only his car was blue. I immediately put out a general broadcast to all police departments to be on the lookout for a 1959 Chrysler, color white, operated by a white male with black curly hair. I then informed all the parents of the incident. The rest of the night and all the next day (Saturday) I searched for that car. No luck. Sunday I left Station 2 on Sherman Parkway at 3:00 PM and headed for the area of Cooper Place. As I was proceeding west on Fountain Street passing Colby Court, I observed a white car parked on the corner of Fountain and Cooper Place. As I got closer, the car started moving and turned right into Fountain Street. I made a U turn and gave chase. I stopped the vehicle just west of Colby Court. It was a white Chrysler, white male with curly black hair driving. I radioed in my position to the police dispatcher with the registration plate number of the car and approached the car. I had to assume the role of a Police Officer and not an angry parent. I simply said, why did you expose yourself Friday afternoon to those small children? Im sorry, he answered. I cant help myself. It took all my willpower not to punch this guy in the face. I cuffed him and took him to the Detective Division after towing his car. Later that night, I learned that last week in Hamden, This same guy tried to force a little kid into his car. Thank God my little friends knew enough to run and then tell someone.
