There will be next to no chance of resolving the wrongness of the world while 99.9% of people are lost in the Age of Distraction. All serious esoteric teachings speak first of the need to understand and take control of self before venturing further into the wonders of life. At the basic level this means (A) knowing who and what you are - which incidentally is not whoever I want to be as the mood takes me and (B) control of the mind and emotions through exercises such as breath work, mindfulness, meditation and posture. Nothing, but NOTHING, but NOT A THING can be accomplished in life without some attempt at these practices, the answers to which will never be discovered on the BBC, Fox, MSNBC or CBeebies. Serious discussion of these matters will be found no more in the Guardian than it will be in the Daily Mail, The Sun or the New York Times. Neither The Daily Show, nor RT, nor Al Jazeera - though they purport to offer alternatives - will address what really counts in any way at all and Russell Brand has no more of a clue than does Rupert Murdoch. They. Are. All. Distractions. The answers and solutions lie within. They do not reside in the pages of the Bible nor the Quran, nor in the latest New Age bestseller. They lie inside each of us, and until we turn to that place we cannot expect any peace at all.
