There will be no Greyjoy plot in Season 5. For a while I held - TopicsExpress

There will be no Greyjoy plot in Season 5. For a while I held out hope, but its smashed now. Here is why: insidetv.ew/2014/10/22/game-of-thrones-rumors/ Season 5 will include the Iron Islands subplot from A Feast for Crows. An assumption among some readers of George R. R. Martin’s novels is the watery Iron Islands subplot will be explored. While the Dorne-based subplot will be in season five, producers have previously indicated the Iron Islands subplot has been omitted. Actually, at this point I am happy they cut parts of the books...no chance of spoilers that way. What we learned from set-pics this week paint the following picture of the storyline in Meereen of Season 5: 1) Tyrion will meet Dany in Meereen. 2) Jorah will fight in the Fighting pit. D&D are intent of having characters actually meet ...or more often miss each other by a hair than GRRM does. In the last season we had: -Arya meets Brienne -Jon almost meets Bran -Arya almost meets Sansa -Brienne meets Sandor The next season we will have: -Tyrion meets Dany -Jorah meets Dany - Mace Tyrell and Meryn Trant meet Tycho Nestoris -Both meets Arya ( probably) - Brienne meets Sansa and Petyr -Jaime meets the Sandsnakes and Myrcella etc. I guess they want to tie the story more neatly together. And its very satisfying for the viewer to see their faves hang out with each other. This all does cut out some other meetings that we all desired greatly: - Tyrion meets Aegon -Tyrion meets Moqorro and the Widow of the waterfrront - Victarion meets Moqorro - Euron meets Asha -Sam meets Arya ( maybe thats still in, I dunno) -Brienne meets Lady Stoneheart ( maybe thats still in as well) - Jaime meets Edmure -Jaime meets the Blackfish -Jaime meets Genna, Devan and Lancel Lannister I do understand them cutting out the Sorrows and the Riverlands. Just too many new places and faces for one season. GRRM couldnt fit his storyline into one book and had to split the story up by region and by character. So I did expect them to do the same somehow. I just really hoped for some sign of the Greyjoys this upcoming season. However...the fact that Daario mentioned he had found 93 ships ( about exactly the amount of ships in the Iron Fleet) in the harbour of Meereen, already made me fear the worst. This would cut out the need for Victarion to show up with the Iron fleet to carry the Second Sons etc home to Westeros . And him to be in time to do that ...arriving just when the battle of Meereen starts. And it also gave D&D room to introduce the Greyjoys at a later stage. Victarion is nowhere to be found in the Official HBO show-companion books or sites. So we are only getting Euron. This is what will probably happen in S.6. regarding Aegon and the Greyjoys who are left out of this season. - Balon dies by the hand of a Faceless man early in S.6. - Euron shows up a day after Balon is killed - The Kingsmoot happens, but only with Asha and Euron as competitors. - The Dragonhorn is revealed. - Dany arrives in Westeros soon after the Dragonhorn is used at the Kingsmoot. Or maybe she is already there by that time. I have no idea how Ashas part will play out after this...the fight at Deepwood Motte is probably out of the picture...although she would have to be taken captive by Stannis at some point if she is to be at the battle of Winterfell. But I think she wont be. Season 6 will be mostly book 6...and all the major events at the end of book 5 and beginning of book 6( ADWD +TWOW) will happen in Ep9 of S5. So the battle of Meereen, the Battle for Winterfell, Jons death and Jaime vs Brienne ...will ALL happen this season. They are condensing book 4&5 into one season. Im pretty sure of that. So Dany arriving in Westeros, which happens in TWOW ...will coincide with the Kingsmoot. ( which will mean the Kingsmoot happens AFTER the battle of Winterfell. This means that either Asha is not in the Kingsmoot...or not at the battle of Winterfell...or that she survives the battle and goes to the Kingsmoot afterwards) Id say ...Episode 5 or 6 for that to happen. Aegon will set foot on Westerosi soil the end of this season ( as a cliffhanger) or the beginning of S.6. Dragonbanners flying high ...audience will think its Dany...BOOM! Its another Targaryen. Instead of introducing him in connection with Tyrion...D&D are going to play his reveal as a major Cliffhanger or surprise. As Ive said before, Im minding these changes less and less because this means the story D&D are telling will differ so much from what GRRM is planning to do...that the show will not spoil the books for us. If they have Tyrion already meet Dany in Meereen...this will mean that their ACTUAL future meeting will not be spoiled. The show is becoming something completely different from ASOIAF. Shame for the show, since last season most of the changes that were made didnt add to the quality of the show...at all. I will continue to watch it...but since its not really the same story anymore, I wont be too upset with changes. Maybe just shake my head in disbelief a few times.
