There you have it: right below, check out the very active biographies of our two luminous panelists, Bryce Detroit and Will See. I cant wait till tomorrow, yall. Im so honored to be in this space with your voices, truths and talents, all of you! Until the fateful hour tomorrow at 3PM EST, feel free to share songs, articles, pictures, or your own work here. Inspire, inform, dismantle, re-imagine, and play one post at a time. Its your time. Ill share an article thats pretty unique because its not a common perspective, to me at least: a mash-up of astrology and hip hop. Were delving into a lot tomorrow, and one of the lots were unpacking and reinhabiting is what a sense of spirituality is like through the vehicle of hip hop. There is so much to delve into here: Five Percent Nation, an indigenous religion-philosophy to American black life in the tristate, was a key influence to a wealth of hip hop that came out in the early 90s. Hip Hop spread across liberation movements overseas, from Korea to Germany to Egypt to South Africa to Venzuela, in part because of an inherent union of spiritual exhalation and political struggle and victory, as rooted in artistic traditions that percolated in black churches and households. In the majority of the globe, this union is not seen with as much irony or split as in the mainstream Global North West, where empiricism appears to be the name of the game. This intro is so basic that Im almost ashamed of posting it, because it honors very little of the super rich heritage and global-grassroots influence I am trying to express, and it all started in the fertile cultures of spore grounds like Detroit. Wanna know more? Wanna ground yourself with me in the peoples history of this nation, understand Detroit your national-cultural hallmark? Youve come to the right spot, with two of the strongest panelists I can think of. Without further ado, Ill go back to the beginning: an astrology and hip hop mash-up through an article that explores the lifelines of the RZA and the GZA from the legendary Wu Tang Clan through a Hellinistic/Western astrological systems, which is but one of many sophisticated systems for humans to articulate a relationship with the stars. Here it is: realitysandwich/217378/rhyme-samurai-astrological-of-the-wu-tang-clan/ So share something!
