Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. Acknowledging that there is a God is not enough. Nicodemus was a Pharisee meaning the knew the ends and outs of the Bible. Nicodemus was one of the elect, possibly the third richest man in Jerusalem at that time. He was a member of the Sanhedrin, the ruling body of Israel. He was a mastery in the Law of Moses. He acknowledged God and made his life out being a student of the Word, prayer, and temple rituals. Yet, when he snuck away to see Jesus, Jesus told unless you be BORN AGAIN you cannot enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. That is a much further step than just acknowledgement of God. That is placing your Faith solely in what Christ did for you at Calvary. Paul illustrated the point to us in Romans 6:3-4. Showing us a clear illustration to the death of the old man and the birth of a new man. Meaning old things have passed away behold all things have become new, we become new creatures. I am not preaching or teaching perfecrion, but there is a change when you get saved. You no longer desire sin. Just going to church, reading your Bible, or saying Jesus is the Son of God doesnt mean that you are saved. Mere confession of your mouth doesnt save you its believing it in your heart to be true thus producing a change in you. (John 3:3, Rom 6:3-4, Rom 9:9, 2 Cor. 5:17)
