Therefore let those who suffer according to God’s will do right - TopicsExpress

Therefore let those who suffer according to God’s will do right and entrust their souls to a faithful Creator. (1 Peter 4:19) As we come to the close of another Liturgical Year, the Church asks us to consider our death. Remember that Jesus willingly put aside all His majesty and glory to live the life of a poor, forgotten man. He was one of the faceless millions we see each and every day as we walk down our streets and watch our TVs. As He hung upon the Cross, Jesus did not hail prophesies or threats down on His murderers. Rather, He asked for their forgiveness and then entrusted His soul to the Father. Each of us ultimately lives non-descript lives because we will be forgotten within a couple of hundred years of our deaths. Our gravestones will not last forever and our names will be forgotten by those coming after us. All the suffering we endured in this life will have no everlasting meaning unless we follow Jesus’ lead and forgive those who trespass against us and entrust our souls to our Creator.
