Theres a HUGE scandal going on in the opera world right now in Australia! Last year immediately after the vicious, violent mob attack on the LGBT IDAHO rally (May 17th), the Tbilisi Georgia LGBT group, Identoba, published an unbelievably vile, homophobic letter which the Georgian soprano, Tamar Iveri, had sent to the President of Georgia supporting the mob attack. In it she referred to LGBT people as fecal masses, among other epithets, and said she was glad the nation spat upon them during the IDAHO attack! Even though European opera houses were notified about her repressible letter, nothing much happened to her career. Now the scandal has reignited in Brussels and Australia. The Brussels opera kicked her out, but so far the Sydney opera has refused. In response, she has published an open letter *from her husband* on her FB page which states HE wrote the letter last year and that she did not back it (which is a lie! She continued making homophobic remarks in the media after being confronted with the letter last year and issuing a pseudo-apology). His letter is one of the most incredibly pathetic NON-apologies Ive ever read! (Please go to her FB page, read it, and tell her so!) So far the Sydney Opera, where she is to star in Othello on July 5th has refused to kick her off the cast. One of the major sponsors, Qantas, has said they are very concerned about her views.
