Theres a big discussion in comments here about how Theron isnt worth the same $10 million Hemsworth is because she hasnt opened $100 billion summer tentpoles like he has. But heres the thing: Hollywood barely even attempts to let women actors do that! And yet Hemsworth was barely even a known quantity when he was cast as Thor (which did NOT do the business it did because of the lead actor but because of the Marvel brand). (Also too: Weve already heard how Jennifer Lawrence, who *is* opening summer tentpoles, or at least as much as Hemsworth has, is still getting cheated in the Hollywood salary game.) We cannot compare even apples to oranges when the oranges are hidden away at the back of the store and dont get prominent placement in the produce section. Well, you know what I mean. (Disclaimer: I love Hemsworth and the Thor flicks, and *Rush* proves that hes got better chops as an actor than he is given credit for. Im not anti-Hemsworth in the least.
