Women In Trucking Association offers December “Buy One, Gift One” (BOGO) memberships December 3, 2014 Plover, WI: December 2nd is known as “Giving Tuesday.” In light of this day, Women In Trucking (WIT) Association is giving our current, future, and former members a way to give a membership to a friend or co-worker. For the month of December, anyone who joins or renews a membership at Women In Trucking Association at the individual rate can give a membership to someone else by using the code, “BOGO – recipient’s name here” during the application process. “This is our way of making the holiday giving a little easier for those who support our mission,” said Ellen Voie, WIT’s President and CEO. “If you believe in our efforts to increase the percentage of women in the trucking industry, then please consider joining the organization, and we’ll throw in a complimentary membership for your friend or peer.” Currently, women comprise only five percent of the driver population and fourteen percent of leadership roles. Women In Trucking Association’s mission to increase these numbers includes promoting the employment of women in the industry, addressing obstacles that might keep women from entering the industry, and celebrating the successes of women who are pioneers in the industry. Recent projects include a Girl Scout Transportation Patch, ride-alongs with industry officials, truck cab design and ergonomic changes with manufacturers, and the “I HEART Trucking” image campaign. In 2012, WIT was recognized by the White House as a “Transportation Innovator Champion of Change.” Future projects include the “Accelerate! Conference & Expo” to be held in Dallas next September, a recruiting guide to attract female drivers, informational webinars, continued expansion of the Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) group and more ride-alongs with elected officials. Now is the time to support Women In Trucking Association’s efforts and become a member or renew your membership while giving another person the opportunity to become involved as well. The BOGO offer is valid through December 31st. Current members will receive a one-year extension, regardless of their expiration date and new members will enjoy a full year of membership in WIT. Both qualify for the BOGO offer by entering the word, “BOGO – recipient’s name here” in the referral area, either online (womenintrucking.org) or by phone (888-464-9482.). The gift membership must be given to someone who is not currently a member of WIT.
