Theres a lot more to this article than what Im pulling out here, but this is the part that resonated with me. Saying no is not a challenge to have other people try and convince you to change your mind, be it getting on an amusement park ride or getting in a car with someone you just met. You can change your mind later if you want. If. You. Want. What is fun for other may not be for you and that is okay. So very okay. Its hard to be the one who says no and then have everyone around tell you it should be yes. I truly hope you are surrounded by people who respect your no because that shows they truly value you as you. ------------------------------------------ It is our job to teach them that they never have to do something that makes them uncomfortable. Even if it means disappointing someone. Even if that someone is me or their father or the love of their life. No means no. Always. We can tell them with our words, but if they have never seen it work in practice, how can they understand? If they have always been coaxed into doing things that they did not want to do in the name of fun and making other people happy, how can we expect them to stand up for themselves when it matters? - Stephanie Giese
