Theres a newish skyscraper in town that is called the QV1 - TopicsExpress

Theres a newish skyscraper in town that is called the QV1 building. It is shiny and new and lovely with awesome accessible toilets. I had a thing on there tonight so I rang and they told me that the parking was in the QV1 parking bay, a Wilsons parking high rise on Murray Street (there is Murray, then Hay, then St Georges Terrace where the entry is) - but I can go right across the bridge, it is at the back of the building. I use a wheelchair, I tell them, yes, no problems. So public parking is on floor 5 up and it appears that floor 6 is the only one with a lift. But the way out from the floor is all the way back around all those streets, freaking miles and up and down hill, not doable for me without serious killage, and the way onto the bridge? Well, heres a pic. Two steps up here and four down the other side. The pic is of a disability parking bay with two steep yellow steps which are not traversible by any wheelchair, plus some glass doors. And so I asked two men who were strangers to carry my wheelchair up the steps and then help me down the other end. Which I did without dislocating my hip. Hilariously, it was for a forum with the Human Rights Commissioner. Oh, the irony. And yes, this was mentioned in the forum. A blind advocate who attended the forum said the building is particularly inaccessible by taxi as there is nowhere to be dropped off. Just poor planning. And on the way out, the senior partner told me that the top floor was inaccessible by lift.
