Theres a particular documentary I watched I think in 2011 (there abouts, not sure, it was not long before the video rental store in my neighborhood downsized significantly & moved locations as a way to slow down the process of going out of business, but I had rented it from there), maybe it was 2012, hard to remember. Anyways theres alot of documentaries out there about Jane Goodall, but this particular one I think is the best one in terms of the messages & facts it covers. She is another one of my female inspirations (Aung San Suu Kyi being another one). There was some statements she made in the particular documentary I am thinking of which really struck me and Id like to find a copy of that clip of her statements so I can rewatch it and also share it here because she was addressing the subject of hope versus hopelessness and why she came out of the jungles to pursue public speaking, & public activism when her heart was in remaining in the jungles. But particularly, she was addressing what keeps her going, what keeps her positive about her work and why she isnt fighting a loosing battle, where she draws her strengths from and the successes she has seen with regards to situations & ecosystems that were nearly destroyed entirely & how to go about getting everyone to participate in healing the earth, addressing our collective survival makes it essential that we work together. She really is an inspiring woman because if there is anyone who has witnessed situations which could make a person very pessimistic about our collective future, it would be her; she still has optimism despite it all and she never tires, she never stops. I am blown away by her, I dont have that energy level now at my young 34 that she does at her nearly 80 years of age. I truly wish she lives long enough to see the catalyst happen that we need in order for things to turn around for the greatest good for the greatest number; I dream that she sees her dream come true, that when her day comes to die, that she can do so knowing that she succeeded with her work. I think by her definition of success, she is able to look at the world with the glass half full in such a way that she probably would say shes already succeeded, but she never stops, she never takes a day off, she continues to go, go, go with her activism and her dedication is so very inspiring.
