Theres a saying in the Nigerian pidgin language that goes thus: soup wey sweet, na money kill am which is interpreted as a soup/meal that is delicious and rich in ingredients is so because good money was put into the cooking process to achieve the outcome. Its also used to mean that a project(a ceremony, party, a cloth well made, a house well built, etc.) that has turned out well is because quality amount of money has been invested in it hence the good and enviable result. I have another approach, not to counter the latter but to add to it. Soup wey sweet, na good cook make am or na hard work make am. No matter how expensive the wide range of cooking ingredients are, it takes a good Cook make the best use of it because he/she pays careful attention to details and puts in the right proportion of ingredients. Imagine spending #10,000 on cooking ingredients and in the cooking process, one puts in excess salt. Money kill the soup(of course because of the ingredients) but salt too don kill am! because of a not so skilled cook or accidental salt input. A project well done is a function of at least some amount of money put in PLUS hard work, dedication, commitment, atimes sleepless nights, intellectual components, etc. These and more also killed the soup, not just money.
