Theres a stall this morning at the Post Office for anyone that hasnt yet paid for a seat on one of the buses to the Right2Water National Assembly this Wednesday December 10th. Still some places left...All roads lead to the Dail on the 10th!! Some people heading down to say hello to Pat Deering at his clinic on the old Dublin rd. (across from St. Leos) at 11am and to let him know that when he speaks in the Dail he does not speak for any of us. Afterwards some of the protesters will be joining a picket at Topaz Greenlane. Which starts at 12 and will run until 2pm - thats Topaz Greenlane, Dublin rd. Carlow. Everyday is a Boycott Topaz day DONT FORGET: Monday evening 2pm until 5pm possibly 6pm: Were supporting Motions being put forward at County Council Meeting, at Carlow County Council. The motions are: Motion 1: That the council opposes the introduction of water taxes and members call upon the government to reverse its plans in this regard. Motion 2: In light of recent letters from Meath and Wicklow county Councils to RAS tenants saying that failure to pay water charges could put a tenancy in jeopardy, the council resolves to publicly declare that the council will not act as debt collectors for Irish Water, evict, threaten to evict, refuse or threaten to refuse to renew a tenancy or otherwise put RAS or other council tenants in fear of losing a tenancy should they choose to exercise their democratic right to civil disobedience in refusing to pay the water charge and resolves to request of the private landlords involved in the RAS scheme that they act in like manner.
