Theres a unique educational opportunity coming up November 7-9th at MSU. DGA member, Ken Chaplin, will be back to screen the film, Ticket Out, and hold a talk-back session on November 7th at 7 p.m. in the Plaster Student Union Theatre Plaster Student Union (1110 E. Madison Ave Springfield , MO 65897) on the campus of Missouri State University. The screening is free and open to the public. Then on November 8-9, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Ken will present his Film Crew Essentials training workshop. He is offering this two day training seminar for $100 for MSU students and $150 for community members. Workshop topics will include: Pre-production, Production, Defining the Director’s team, What is Expected the First Day, Walkie-Talkie protocol and etiquette, Choreographing Background Performers, Defining Positions in other departments, Script Breakdown, Production Paperwork, Set Safety and Protocol, Resume presentation, Interviewing Strategies, Job Search Techniques, and much more. Ken served as the assistant director on this production, and has worked hand-in-hand for over 18 years with directors of the caliber of David Mamet, Terrence Malick, Ang Lee, and Ridley Scott. He has wrangled Dustin Hoffman, John Cusack, Woody Harrelson, Sean Penn, and Eva Longoria and has worked on the films “End of Days,” “Dude, Where’s My Car,” “Ticket Out,” “Body of Lies,” “Runaway Jury,” “The Thin Red Line,” and “Moby Dick.” He has a lot to offer anyone taking the Film Crew Essentials workshop.
