Theres a word that has been stirring in my heart for the last few days, and its the word HOPE! In the movie “It’s a Wonderful life. Theres a great line when Clarence the angel is about to get his assignment to go and help this guy who’s in trouble. The superior says, “Youve got to go help George Bailey.” Clarence says, “What is it? Is he sick? “No, it’s worse than that. He’s discouraged.” The lack of hope can be worse that physical illness. The writers of the Bible recognized this more than 2500 years ago. King Solomon wrote, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.” (Pro 13:12) The harsh reality is that when hope is crushed the heart is crushed as well. So its not surprising if God created human beings with this craving for hope, it would make sense that He would also serve as our ultimate hope. I have a deep sense in my heart that God wants to restore HOPE in many of you. “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul firm and secure.” (Heb 6:19) Our hope is only as good as what its anchored to. Hope in and of itself has no power. To all of you who are still struggling with an unbearable burden, hurt, guilt, shame and wounds. In the valley of your trouble, God is going to open a door of hope! Please read these verses carefully, But then I will win her back once again. I will lead her into the desert and speak tenderly to her there. I will return her vineyards to her and transform the Valley of Trouble into a gateway of hope. She will give herself to me there, as she did long ago when she was young, when I freed her from her captivity in Egypt.(Hosea 2:14-15) Hes going to take you by the hand, and lead you somewhere. He is going WITH you and there in the valley of Achor, in the very place of your deepest wounds, hurts, failures, pains. There is going to be a gateway of HOPE for you! I sometimes wish that my heart wasnt so sensitive but I wouldnt trade that for anything. You are never without hope! You matter to God! Happy Thursday Everyone.
