Theres an exceptionally interesting discussion taking place on one of my posts from yesterday, which is now 463 comments deep. I posted something as a comment just now that I figured I should probably do as a stand-alone post. To set the scene, someone was giving me a hard time for daring to respond to another very rude person who came on to my Facebook page. He said he was taking screenshots of my responses (which were not in any way vulgar or personal attacks) and would make sure the media saw them if I ever run for office again. To that end, here is my response (with minor edits to remove the mans name): Im touched that you care enough to screenshot my work (which may raise some intellectual property issues for you later), let me make this really simple for you: I DONT GIVE A FLYING FLIP WHAT YOU SCREENSHOT. if my eight years in office taught me anything, its that some people in the media are the most petty and corrupt of all, but they make it worse by bowing down to big money and then covering it in a fake layer of legitimacy. Others are just petty, lazy, self-righteous people who fail to take their responsibility to inform the public as seriously as they should. And if any reporter (print, radio, television or online) who is reading this and wondering if Im talking about them, heres a tip. If you have to stop and wonder if Im talking about you, then Im probably talking about you. Im done with all the fakery and phoniness in politics. From now on, youre going to hear what I think- raw and unfiltered. If you dont like it, dont read it. If it offends you, well thats just your problem to solve on your own. And if your solution is to run to the most sensationalistic bottom feeders in the media, tell them yet had better bring more than a couple of guys, because Im ready to give it right back to them. Everybody has skeletons in their closet, and some arent that hard to find. And if that doesnt work, maybe Ill just resort to their tactic of misrepresenting the facts or just making stuff up altogether. No more hypocrisy and no more false double standards; if I have to play by the rules, so does everyone else. If everyone else gets to do whatever they damn well please while daring to show false outrage, they had better be ready. Because if you think youre going to set me on fire and walk away unscathed, you wont have to ask who the short bald guy with a proverbial flamethrower and can of gasoline is. More simply put, in the immortal words of The Joker, Everything burns. Make sure you get a good screenshot, sir. Id hate for you to miss anything I just said. #1stamendment #Merica
