Theres been a LOT of talk lately about Noah. Between the new movie coming out, and the tourist trap known as the Ark Museum being built in Kentucky, its everywhere I look. So lets talk about Noah. First off...the Biblical Flood? Nonexistent. The massive amounts of geological evidence required to substantiate such a claim simply dont exist. And to boot, there isnt even the SLIGHTEST SHRED of tiny little evidence to suggest it. Secondly, lets think about the Ark...a single vehicle to hold two of every species of animal, plus eight humans, and enough food to keep them alive for a eleven months (Genesis 8). Does this sound feasible? Especially given the dimensions given in the bible? No. No matter how you look at it, its physically impossible. Third, the ENTIRE story is stolen. Yep. STOLEN...from Egyptian and Babylonian myths that predate the Bible by THOUSANDS of years. The Babylonian story of Utnapishtim in the epic of Gilgamesh is virtually identical to the Ark story in almost every way, including the timescale and order of release of the four birds. The word, Noah is pronounced with two letters in Hebrew...Nun, and Chem. Nun is the Egyptian word for flood. Chem, or as the Egyptians would spell it, keme means black land, referring to the fertile black soil left over when then annual Nile flood withdraws its banks. Taking parts from the Egyptian and Babylonian flood myths, we see that the biblical writers simply adapted old myths to their new religions. Theres much more evidence to discuss, but this is already a ridiculously long status...
