Theres been a lot of furore over a blogger who used to blog on race and gender issues in SFF and use intemperate language as well as engage in personal attacks on writers and has now emerged, under a different name as an upcoming genre writer herself. Theres been a lot of fallout and back-and-forth rhetoric over this. I was a follower of the person in question under her earlier avatar, and I admired and still do a lot of her outspoken-ness and feel that a lot of her longer blog posts were very cogent and valid analyses of dodgy race and gender stuff in the books she reviewed. Sadly, I dont care as much for her fiction as I did her for her more astute rants, but good luck to her. However, I do feel some of her dealings may not have been in good faith and after reading tonnes of links, Id like to share this one by a writer, editor and commentator I respect quite a bit, Athena Andreadis, as a good summary for anyone who has vaguely heard of Requires Hate and wants to know more: starshipreckless/blog/?p=9077
