Theres been a lot of radio in my life these last couple of weeks. Between writing and co-producing the show, weve also had meetings about finding a new studio location, and training for the up coming fund drive. It was pitch training that brought four of the BCH team to B-town yesterday. We dutifully met at the station as Cleveland dished out the requirements and outlined the procedures. The meeting went well and afterwards the four of us meet for lunch at the Players Pub. The food was good, and the radio show never came up in conversation. We actually have a lot in common, I think thats part of the dynamic that makes our team work so well together, we like one another. That seems simple and basic, but it goes to the heart of cooperation and mutual understanding. I have seen volunteer organizations where everyone liked the goal of the group but not exactly each other. We are most fortunate to love what we do, and to find friendship along the way. After lunch I drove across town to drop off our recyclables only to discover theyre closed on Thursday. This wouldnt be the first Thursday that this has happened, I suppose Ill eventually remember this detail. Meanwhile, theres even more to recycle today, and I know theyre open, so Im heartened by the prospect of returning these items so they may become something useful again. When I returned home Wilson and I went to the shop to make a little progress on the boat. I shoved aside the small pile of discarded parts on the bench, and sanded the center board in preparation for another coat of epoxy. Now both sides of the board have one coat on top of the dynel cloth. Im thinking each side needs one more, and the board will be finished. As we were serenaded by the peepers, I fired up the grill for the first time this year. Our old grill rotted last year and Im unfamiliar with the ins and outs of the new one. I thought there was something wrong because it wasnt heating properly untill Becky showed me how to adjust the flame it was full steam ahead. Warm and rainy sounds good to me, especially the warm part, and we all know what they say about April showers, even if they come at the end of March. Have a great weekend.
