Theres been a lot of sharing of this story, and especially the wonderful way band dorks geeks musicians have been responding with wit and spunk. Without getting carried away, this does reflect the kind of bully mentality characterizing a LOT (not all) of the jock sports journalists. For the record, when possible, I always sit right above the band at Notre Dame games. Tthey add SO MUCH to the game that, of course, gets cut out by the ESPN/CBS/NBC/Disney/CNN/FOX empire. Plus, I remember my sons awesome solos on Maynard Ferguson at high school games. OK, so hes apologized, BUT Im boycotting CBS now forever (except when the Colts are on). Its pretty easy because I dont have a TV.
