Theres been plenty of pedal power from some Lifetimers this weekend! The Lawton family were particularly active! Explained Kevin: After a day feeling like a packhorse, being dragged around York Designer Outlet by three shopaholics on Saturday, I thought Sunday may be a relaxing day. However, that was not to be.....As daughter Abigale didn’t have to work, it was decided that a day out in the Peak, biking, was on the cards. On the way out of Sheffield down the A57 the gusts of wind were moving the car all over. Not sure if it was the wind or driver error which had put a car onto its roof at the side of the road but even that wasn’t going to put off a determined Abigale who was out on her new bike for the first time. As we pedalled along the edge of Derwent water the wind was picking up even more and you could feel the spray in the air. As we started the climb up onto the tops the wind was getting stronger and in places was well above 50 mph. We would usually stop halfway round for a chocolate break but after seeing loads of walkers huddled together trying to eat their lunch we decided to carry on and finished at the Ladybower Inn for soup and a sandwich. Oh.....and some chips. Great day out even if it was freezing in the wind. But probably would have been better flying the kite...... :)
